6 Incentive Gifts For Employees
Incentive gifts are ways to encourage your
employees to put their best foot forward and to do the very
best job possible. Excellent job performance should always
be rewarded and therefore choosing the appropriate gifts is
so important. It is essential however to also keep the individual
interests and personalities of your employees in mind. What
might work as an incentive to one person might not for another.
Some people are in jobs where there is little thanks involved
therefore there are some employees who will be pleased to receive
any kind of gift. Know your employees well enough to be able
to choose wisely. Let’s look at six great incentive gifts for
employees.
The
first is a gift certificate. Gift certificates come in
any number of dollar denominations and you can purchase them
for many different stores and establishments, be they restaurants,
clothing stores, movie theatres, video stores, grocery stores
and even coffee shops. If you know that a certain employee
enjoys going to a movie every Friday night or another often
eats out at a particular restaurant then the choice is easily.
Plus your employee will be pleased to see that you have noticed
his or her personal preferences. Pick out a nice holiday card
and include the gift certificate in that with a handwritten
message. Virtual gift certificates for online stores are another
option that is quickly gaining steam.
The
second incentive gift is a food or gift basket. You can
either order one pre-packaged from a store or over the Internet
or else buy an assortment of goodies and make up your own.
Suggestions include a coffee or tea gift basket with cookies
or wafers, a chocolate gift basket, gourmet meats and cheeses
gift basket, or a fruit basket. Whether you buy one as is or
make one up yourself make sure you prepare an individual handwritten
card for it and make sure the packaging is attractive. Some
companies go one step further and give out turkeys for Christmas
to each employee and/or a fruitcake.
The
third incentive gift is something new for the employee’s
desk or office. Perhaps it is a desk or wall calendar, a new
blotter for the desk or a desk organizer. Or maybe you have
more money in your budget and decide to opt for buying your
employee that new LCD computer screen he or she has been wishing
for.
The fourth option is the tried and true but it always works
well. Plants or flowers work as incentives for many employees
because they make a home or office look beautiful. Plants are
also believed to improve the air quality of a room. You can
opt for either a bouquet of flowers or flowers in a gift basket
or else a potted plant. Many companies give poinsettias for
Christmas because they are Christmas flowers but for something
different, you might want to give your employees a Chinese
bonsai tree or a fern.
The fifth gift is a common one for many companies. Most people
enjoy a drink over the Christmas holidays, so giving a bottle
of wine or another type of liquor, such as brandy is a nice
touch at Christmas time. Wine is the standard choice but if
you want to be different go ahead. If you know someone who
makes their own wine then have bottles made up for your employees
with special labels put on them including each person’s name.
Finally the sixth incentive gift is anything
with the company logo on it whether it is a pocket calendar, a shirt, a pen,
a mug, et cetera. If you have a number of different types of
company merchandise then give each employee a gift basket assortment
of items.
