What is required to be successful in your home business? Before we can answer, you must understand what "success" means and what common characteristics successful people have. Your goals can be changed as often as necessary until you reach your ultimate goal, and it will happen if you persevere. 1. Here are some facts about a well-known man who realized that perseverance pays off by overcoming the odds and finally achieving his goals: Beginning at age 31 up until age 60, this man failed in business twice, was defeated in legislative races twice, survived the death of a sweetheart, suffered a nervous breakdown, lost three congressional races, lost two senatorial races, one vice presidential race and was finally elected President of the United States at age 60. The first step toward attaining success is understanding how to persevere and acquire some of the traits that successful people share.

2. Passion - Successful people have a driving force that pushes them forward and sets them apart. They have a desire and energy that drives them to reach their potential, which is an inherent part of their personality. This particular trait can be learned and acquired if you weren't born with it. They keep their goals in mind 24 hours a day. The passion within these individuals is deeply rooted and will sustain them through the hard times so they can reach their objectives. Failure is not an option.

3. Belief - Most successful people will tell you that you can succeed if you think you can and are willing to work toward that success, but to do so you must have realistic goals and believe in yourself. Even in the face of adversity, you must persevere and continually strive to accomplish each task on your way to success.

4. Strategy - A good strategy, or game plan, can make or break you. You should have a workable strategy that will give your projects direction and that point you to success. Designing a good strategy will help you achieve your objectives and overcome all obstacles along the way.

5. Energy - Without the vitality, enthusiasm and perseverance to be a mover and shaker, it will be very hard for your home business to succeed. Success is a by-product of mental, physical and spiritual energy that urges us on toward achieving our goal. You can if you think you can!
